OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Course

Date: November 4 - 5, 2024

Time: 8:00 am to 1:30 pm both days

Instructor: Lisa Brownson, CSP, Safety Source Consultants, Ltd.

This class will be held at the Syracuse Builders Exchange located at 6563 Ridings Rd, Syracuse, NY. We have safety guidelines in place - please be sure to review them. Due to demand, only 4 people per company, unless there are available seats.

Please Be Advised – OSHA requires that cards be sent to the students, if a copy is required, please see the employee for a copy of their completion card. The cost of the course will be $30 per student SBE Member Firms and $50 per student Non-Members. Payments must be received by the First Day of Class. If Paying By Check – Please Make Payable To: Syracuse Builders Exchange and mail to 6563 Ridings Road, Syracuse, NY 13206. Course fees are non-refundable.

Students must attend both days in order to receive their completion card. Please let us know if your employee cannot attend so we can free up their spot. If another employee will replace an employee registered for the class, no problem, please let us know.

SBE Safety Guidelines:

Kindly enter and exit the building through the entrance located at the rear parking lot on the southern end of the building.
Hand sanitizer will be available in the classroom.
Please bring your own writing instruments.

Building Information Modeling Education for Construction Industry Employers

Syracuse Builders Exchange (SBE) is proud to announce the Association will be hosting Building Information Modeling (BIM) Sessions to SBE membership. The 6 sessions will educate construction industry employers and employees on the benefits of using BIM, and how to interact with BIM requirements of construction managers, general contractors or project owners.

SBE has partnered with Autodesk and is an Authorized Autodesk Training Center (ATC). SBE is the only construction industry Association in the State of New York to have such a designation.

SBE will offer a series of 6 BIM sessions. The sessions will be held in the SBE classroom and will include a computer for each student, with pre-loaded software and other materials needed for the classes. The sessions will be on Thursday evenings, for 6 weeks, November 7^th – December 19^th

Session 1 / November 7 / 5:00-6:00pm / Practical uses for BIM in Construction

Session 2 / November 14 / 4:00-6:00pm / Introduction to Revit (part 1)

Session 3 / November 21 / 4:00-6:00pm / Introduction to Revit (part 2)

Session 4 / December 5 / 4:00-6:00pm / Creating Takeoffs in Revit

Session 5 / December 12 / 4:00-6:00pm / Introduction to Navisworks

Session 6 / December 19 / 4:00-6:00pm / Clash Detection in Navisworks

SBE Member pricing: $100 per session/per participant or $500 per participant for all 6 sessions.

Non-Member pricing: $200 per session/per participant or $1,000 per participant for all 6 sessions.

Participants can select whichever session they would like to attend or attend all 6 sessions at a discounted rate.

Checks should be made payable to Syracuse Builders Exchange and mailed to 6563 Ridings Road, Syracuse, NY 13206. Credit card payments (with fees) are accepted. Payments will need to be received 2 weeks prior to the class date. Course fees are non-refundable. Space is limited for these sessions, register early to secure a seat.

Eric Wing will be the instructor for these sessions. Eric is an expert in the BIM arena and is currently the Director of BIM Services at C&S Companies and a professor at Syracuse University’s School of Engineering.

This class will cover the characteristics of permit required confined spaces; related hazards; the duties of entrants, attendants, and entry supervisors; important differences between the general industry and construction confined space standards; and key components of a confined space plan.

This class will be in-person only and will take place at the Syracuse Builders Exchange training room.

The Syracuse Builders Exchange is pleased to invite your company to the MWBE/DBE/SDVOSB Construction Showcase. This free in-person networking event is open to SBE member employers, general contractors, construction manager and project owners. It is intended to highlight some of the region’s MWBE/DBE/SDVO construction companies, and to promote the utilization of such companies on future construction projects.

This free event will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the DoubleTree Hotel, off the Carrier Circle. While networking during the event, the Syracuse Builders Exchange will provide our guests with one complimentary beverage, hot hors d’oeuvres, a turkey carving station, and cash bar.
