Basic Blueprint Reading Course

February 3 – March 24, 2025 / 4:00pm – 6:00pm

Syracuse Builders Exchange / 6563 Ridings Road, Syracuse, NY 13206 / In-Person & Virtual

These classes will take place on Monday evenings from 4pm – 6pm beginning February 3 through March 24, 2025. Classes will be held in person at Syracuse Builders Exchange as well as virtually via Zoom. Virtual Attendees must attend separately, no screen sharing. All attendees must have the Zoom app downloaded and must sign in with an individual email address.

This is an 8-week course, from February 3, 2025 – March 24, 2025.

Registration for this course will close Monday, January 20, 2025!

This course will give attendees basic skills necessary to understand construction documents and familiarize them with what to expect when reviewing the drawings. This includes familiarization with not only the Architectural scope, but site / civil & all mechanical trades as well. The importance of Project specifications and other related items that are part of a complete set of Contract documents will also be focused on. Participation is encouraged, and having interactive discussions will be an important part of the course.

The cost of this course will be $133.00 for SBE Member firms, which includes all 8 sessions, the textbook and architectural drawings.

Payments may be made with a check, payable to Syracuse Builders Exchange and to mailed to 6563 Ridings Road, Syracuse, NY, 13206 or with a credit card (fees apply). Course fees are non-refundable.

Instructor: James Paolini.

Mr. Paolini has over three decades of experience with various types of site and building design, project management, facility condition assessments, peer reviews for both public and private projects, as well as construction administration. His responsibilities consist of all phases of Architectural design from project viability / pre-design through closeout and commissioning.

First Aid/CPR/AED Course

March 4, 2025 / 9:00am – 12:00pm

Be prepared to act when emergencies arise. When you understand first aid, you’ll gain the ability to help those in need. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can help save a life if a person’s breathing or heart stops. When a sudden cardiac arrest event happens, minutes matter. In this course you will learn how to treat and recognize heart attacks, strokes, diabetic emergencies and more.

This course will also speak about first aid for severe bleeding. Serious injury can lead to life-threatening blood loss within minutes, be prepared to provide lifesaving care when the unexpected happens.

This course will be an in-person only session, no virtual attendance. Completion cards are distributed at the close of class. The course will be held at Syracuse Builders Exchange, 6563 Ridings Road, Syracuse, NY 13206. Attendees must be pre-registered to attend.

Free for SBE Member Firms - $100 Non-Members.

This class will be held at the Syracuse Builders Exchange located at 6563 Ridings Rd, Syracuse, NY. We have safety guidelines in place - please be sure to review them. Due to demand, only 4 people per company, unless there are available seats.

The OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry Outreach course helps participants recognize and identify solutions to common safety and health hazards on the job. There is a New York State law requiring most workers on publicly funded construction sites to have the OSHA wallet card proving they have completed the OSHA 10-hour for Construction training course. Many General Contractors and Construction Management firms also require that subcontractors' employees have the 10-hour. Upon completion of the OSHA 10-hour for Construction, you will receive a course completion card that does not expire.

Please Be Advised – OSHA requires that cards be sent to the students, if a copy is required, please see the employee for a copy of their completion card. The cost of the course will be $30 per student SBE Member Firms and $50 per student Non-Members. Payments must be received by the First Day of Class. If Paying By Check – Please Make Payable To: Syracuse Builders Exchange and mail to 6563 Ridings Road, Syracuse, NY 13206. Course fees are non-refundable.

Students must attend both days in order to receive their completion card. Please let us know if your employee cannot attend so we can free up their spot. If another employee will replace an employee registered for the class, no problem, please let us know.

SBE Safety Guidelines:

Kindly enter and exit the building through the entrance located at the rear parking lot on the southern end of the building.
Hand sanitizer will be available in the classroom.
Please bring your own writing instruments.
