OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Course

Date: September 23-24, 2026

Time: 8:00 am to 1:30 pm both days

This class will be held at the Fort Schuyler Club located at 254 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13502.

The OSHA 10-hour Construction Industry Outreach course helps participants recognize and identify solutions to common safety and health hazards on the job. There is a New York State law requiring most workers on publicly funded construction sites to have the OSHA wallet card proving they have completed the OSHA 10-hour for Construction training course. Many General Contractors and Construction Management firms also require that subcontractors' employees have the 10-hour. Upon completion of the OSHA 10-hour for Construction, you will receive a course completion card that does not expire.

Please Be Advised – OSHA requires that cards be sent to the students, if a copy is required, please see the employee for a copy of their completion card. The cost of the course will be $30 per student SBE Member Firms and $50 per student Non-Members. Payments must be received by the First Day of Class. If Paying By Check – Please Make Payable To: Syracuse Builders Exchange and mail to 6563 Ridings Road, Syracuse, NY 13206. Course fees are non-refundable.

Payments cannot be submitted at the time of registration. An invoice will be emailed to you separately, which will include a secure link for payment.

If one of your employees needs a translator, we will try to help them find a suitable class, but they will not be able to attend a scheduled 10-hour at the SBE. OSHA requires, when a translator is needed, that the 10-hour take 20 hours due to the extra time necessary to teach the material.

Students must attend both days in order to receive their completion card. Please let us know if your employee cannot attend so we can free up their spot. If another employee will replace an employee registered for the class, no problem, please let us know.

The Syracuse Builders Exchange will be hosting a National Safety Council Flagger course. This course will provide an understanding of the responsibilities and limitations of flaggers in protecting road workers, while controlling the flow of traffic. This course will be using the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for proper work zone set up. This course will cover how a properly trained flagger will perform safe work practices with:

Flagging Equipment
Flagger Appearance
Advanced Warning Signs
One-Direction Control
Emergency Flagging
The Law around flagging depends on the specific task being performed

There will be classroom work and outside trial exercises. Upon completion participants will receive a completion certificate.

Scott Hopkins has several years’ experience as a NYS Flagger Trainer, OSHA Certified Outreach trainer for Construction and General Industry.

The cost of this course will be $100 for SBE Member Firms and $125 for Non-Members.

Whether you’re new to Microsoft Excel or looking to strengthen your basic skills, this hands-on training will provide the foundation you need to confidently create, organize, and manage spreadsheets. Participants will learn essential Excel tools and functions while gaining practical skills that can be applied to everyday workplace tasks.

The class will conclude with a practical exercise where participants will use the skills they’ve learned to build a working worksheet template that can be adapted for estimates, invoices, and other business needs.

Stacey Beaumont is the Senior Compliance Officer of Landon & Rian. Stacey has more than 35 years of experience working in coordination with public agencies and holds a Master Compliance Administrator (MCA) Certification from the American Contract Compliance Association and Morgan State University.

In Stacey’s daily functions, she uses Excel to track, organize, and analyze a wide range of project and payment-related data. This includes monitoring payments to individual contractors and suppliers, calculating percentages paid to date, and tracking Minority- and Women-Owned Business participation against established project goals.

Excel is also used to monitor workforce participation across specified projects and contractors, allowing participation data to be compared and cross-referenced with established goals.

This training session is FREE to SBE Member firms.

The OSHA 30-hour construction outreach course is required by Corning Glass, Anhueser-Busch, Cornell University, Turner Construction, Slattery Skanska and others for lead foremen and superintendents. Subjects covered will include OSHA, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, Scaffolding, Respiratory Protection, and much more.
